Kia EV5 GT’s leaked images form China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Tech (MIIT) shows the new SUV will be sporty in looks. Kia officially revealed EV5 as it’s new concept electric SUV at the Chengdu Motor Show in August.

As it is seen that the previous version and the new SUV do not have many differences on the outside. But a black trim on the lower front bumper is added. However, other Kia GT vehicles also include subtle visual differences. The big difference maker is in the performance.

The brand hasn’t revealed the final details of the EV5 GT, but it is expected to have 0 to 60 mph capabilities in under 6.5 seconds. Also the EV5 GT will be available in a dual motor system, with a 215 hp (160 kW) front and 98 hp (73kW) rear electric motor, for a combined 15 hp output.

The brand has said that this is not the only new electric SUV getting the GT treatment, but all the other new EVs the EV2, EV3, and EV4 are expected to gain a GT trim.

Kia’s New EV5 Electric SUV

Kia has officially unveiled the new Electric compact SUV EV5 at the Chengdu Motor Show in August. It is very similar to the Kia’s larger EV9 crossover. The company has branded it as a family-friendly SUV, the EV features Kia’s new “Opposites United” design.

The new EV5 is 4,615 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,715 mm tall compared with Tesla’s Model Y 4,760 mm long, 1,921 mm wide, and 1,624 mm height.

The EV5 uses the company’s fast charging, 800-volt electrical architecture. It will come with rear-wheel drive and a single electric motor with 215 horsepower. It is fitted with a smaller 64-kWh battery to a longer-range 88-kWh pack that is estimated to the range of about 300 miles for its longest range model.

The interior of the SUV is very impressive and luxurious. It is all about eco-friendly street-cred. It also includes next-gen connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), large digital dashboard  with dual 12.3’ display screen and a separate 5’ climate control display.

The brand hasn’t revealed the release date of the vehicle but by the looks of it, it will come in near future. Along with that the company is also planning to introduce another high performance electric SUV EV9 GT, but the details are not revealed yet.
