Hyundai is a brand in the automobile industry that grabbed the record sales of its EV from the past three years. Hyundai also aims to continue the legacy in 2024 as the electric market grows through a massive boom.
However the brand achieved a new milestone of record sales in the Q4, December, 2023. IONIQ 5 the brand new electric vehicle recorded 3,261 EV sales in December that is 90% more compared to 2022. Concurrently the IONIQ 6 sales reached the 2,065 model.
In 2023, the IONIQ 5 sales rose 92% in Q4 when the brand sold 8,612 models. This marks the brand’s total sales of 33,918 IONIQ 5 electric SUVs that shows 48% growth over 2022.
IONIQ was launched by Hyundai last year. And the model crossed sales of 2,000 models in December. Also the IONIQ 6 sales reached 4,681 in Q4 and with that the brand total of 12,999 in 2023.
Hyundai sold a total of 801,195 vehicles in 2023 that is 11% from 2022. This new set despite the brand vehicles were not qualifying for the EV tax credit.
Hyundai with Kia topped GM’s Chevy and Ford in Q3 Ev registrations as demand for its electric models continues to rise. Jose Munoz, Hyundai’s global president said Hyundai is “pulling ahead” with strong demand for its EVs. Kia also sold a record number of vehicles last year.
Where, GM and Ford pulled back recently, but Hyundai has stuck by its electric vehicle initiatives. Munzo also told Reuters in November,”Based on what I see, I need more. If I had more capacity today, I could sell more cars.”
