Honda has announced from the worldwide platform of CES on Tuesday, that the brand will accelerate its electric vehicle market with a brand-new line of electric cars to the U.S. in 2026. That will be the automaker’s next-generation, in-house EV tech.
The flagship model presented by the Honda on the event floor is the Honda 0 Series that is featured with steer-by-wire technology. Revealing dome details for the upcoming electric lineup.
On the debut occasion Mistsure Kariya, the head of Honda’s automobile electrification strategy unit said, It means there won’t be a mechanical connection between the sedan’s steering wheel and its front wheels like there is in just about every car on the road. That physical line is eliminated by a steer-by-wire system and instead tells the front wheels what to do electronically based on a driver’s steering inputs. It may sound like a minor update in the vehicle, but the tech can have a profound impact on a vehicle’s styling and functionality.
Where the traditional steering setup has strict limitations that dictate certain components to go but the steer-by-wire tech replaces the mechanical connection between a car’s steering wheel and its front wheel with a purely electronic one. Kariya said, introducing this modern technology will allow Honda to create more space for the passengers to stretch out and shorten a vehicle’s front end.
At present Tesla Cybertruck and Toyota’s system is featured with this steer-by-wire system that allows drivers to use different steering behavior at different speeds. And probably customers will find the same kind of technology in the futuristic Honda electric vehicles.
As it is evidently that the electric vehicles allow automakers to experiment with design and technology. As the battery powered cars serve up flat floors, extra cargo space and outside the box exterior styling than the internal combustion predecessors. And the good news is steer-by-wire could help automakers get even more crafty with their designs while saving it’s rarity.
