Latest electric SUV, the NIO Onvo L60 EV, is off to an impressive start. Just 100 days after its launch, the EV maker has delivered over 20,000 units, signaling strong traction in the mass-market segment.
Introduced in September under NIO’s budget-friendly Onvo sub-brand, the L60 is making waves in the electric vehicle market. According to a social media post from NIO Onvo, it took only 100 days to reach 20,000 cumulative deliveries. In October, its first full sales month, over 4,300 units were sold—accounting for about one-fifth of NIO’s total sales that month.

The L60’s pricing strategy plays a key role in its success. Starting at approximately $21,000 (149,900 yuan) with a battery rental option, it is significantly more affordable than competitors like Tesla’s Model Y, which starts at $35,000 (249,900 yuan) in China. Buyers who prefer to own the battery can purchase the L60 for around $29,000 (206,900 yuan). This competitive pricing makes the Onvo L60 an attractive option for cost-conscious consumers and helps NIO secure a stronger foothold in the expanding EV market.
The L60’s momentum continues to build, with deliveries surging month after month. NIO delivered 832 units in September, 4,319 in October, and 5,082 in November, totaling 10,233 by the end of November. Based on these numbers, at least 9,767 units were delivered in December, positioning NIO to surpass its monthly goal of 10,000 deliveries.
To meet growing demand, NIO plans to ramp up production, doubling from 10,000 units in December to 20,000 by March 2025. This ambitious scaling reflects NIO’s confidence in the L60’s appeal and its strategy to solidify its position in the mass-market EV segment.
The Onvo L60 has also demonstrated robust performance under challenging conditions. During its first long-range cold-weather test, the SUV covered highways and roads in China for 7 hours and 9 minutes in energy-saving mode, with an average energy consumption of just 21.0 kWh/100 km, even in extreme cold.
NIO Onvo L60 EV Dimension and Range
With dimensions of 4,828 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,616 mm in height, the L60 is comparable to the Tesla Model Y, which measures 4,750 mm x 1,921 mm x 1,624 mm.
Looking ahead, NIO plans to launch the L60 in its first European market in early 2025. Eric Yu, Onvo’s Vice President of Products, confirmed the Automotive News Europe the first destination for the L60 in Europe, marking a strategic move to expand NIO’s global footprint.
Unlike the EU, which imposes a 31% import tariff on Chinese EVs, the UK does not enforce additional tariffs, making it an attractive market for the NIO Onvo L60 EV.

NIO president Qin Lihong revealed plans to expand into up to 25 countries and regions by the end of 2025. Once production reaches 30,000 units per month—expected early next year—Onvo will begin exporting the L60. This growth strategy underscores NIO’s ambition to scale its global operations while navigating different regulatory landscapes effectively.
