Porsche Taycan Turbo GT vs. Ferrari SF90 vs. Yamaha R1M Drag Race
Porsche introduced the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT earlier this year following updates to the Taycan lineup, boasting improved range and performance. The Turbo GT, Porsche’s fastest production car to date, delivers up to 1,092 hp and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds when equipped with the Weissach Package.
The Turbo GT claimed the title of the fastest electric production car at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca earlier this year, setting a record lap time of 1:27:87. It surpassed the Tesla Model S Plaid’s previous record of 1:30:30 set in 2020.
But how does it stack up against the Ferrari SF90 and Yamaha R1M in a drag race? The team at Carwow put them head-to-head to find out.
The Ferrari SF90 packs 769 hp from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with three electric motors, while the Yamaha R1M relies on its 200 hp, 1.0-liter, four-stroke engine. Despite their capabilities, the Taycan dominated. In the first race, it easily outpaced both rivals. Even when the Ferrari jumped the start in a subsequent race, the Taycan still crossed the finish line first. Repeated attempts confirmed the Porsche’s supremacy.
The Taycan Turbo GT completed a quarter-mile in just 9.9 seconds, edging out the Ferrari SF90’s 10.0 seconds and the Yamaha R1M’s 10.3 seconds.
With all its power and performance, the Taycan Turbo GT doesn’t come cheap. Starting at $230,000 with the Weissach Package, it’s a high-end option for enthusiasts. The 2025 base model Taycan starts at $99,400, while the Turbo and Turbo S trims are priced at $173,600 and $209,000, respectively.
