To take the lead in the EV market Lucid is planning to introduce three new affordable EVS. CEO Peter Rawlinson confirmed last year that Lucid was developing an EV priced around $50,000. He also said the new vehicle was aimed “right in the heart of Tesla Model 3, Model Y territory.”
Early this year, Lucid teased us by previewing the first mass-market model, a mid-size electric SUV. This time also Lucid is planning to launch three new affordable EVs. It is also getting some confirmation as Lucid’s senior VP of design, Derek Jenkins said while talking with CarBuzz that its “mid-size program,” saying it will include multiple vehicles.
He also said, “They’re going to be younger vehicles, they’re going to be more athletic vehicles.” Lucid is planning to launch three affordable EVs under the program as it looks to close the gap with Tesla.
Jenkins also described that a rugged off-road Lucid EV may be more likely to be one. The off-road space is going to continue to morph and evolve. The EV will be a great combination of the sleekness of the car with its robustness and durability.
Jenkins also said that Lucid’s mid-size program is more focused on compact, lighter vehicles with more emphasis on aero efficiency and space. Also there is a whole new category of products that still could be on the drawing boards of many companies.
