Lucid has launched a new Assistant for Lucid EVs. It is a hands-free voice assistant powered by SoundHound Chat AI. The Chat AI platform was the first of its kind to go into production with integrated AI voice assist.
It works like Amazon’s Alexa or Apple Siri. The drivers can wake up their new AI assistant by saying, “Hey, Lucid.” They can also ask almost any question about stocks, sports, weather etc., and get a response in real-time. The assistant also enables them to control various features, such as Navigation.

At the event Lucid’s Head of Software Engineering,, DR Jean-Phillippe Gauthier explained, “ Developing Lucid Assistant in cooperation with SoundHound enables us to deliver much more than a voice control feature.” He also explained that with frequent OTA updates, “Lucid Assistant can grow” with new functions and capabilities.
SoundHound AI’s COO, Michael Zagorsek, boasted, “We believe that SoundHound’s best-in-class voice technology opens up unlimited new opportunities for both drivers and OEMs, and will fundamentally change the way we interact with out vehicles into the future.
The company employs a proprietary method to minimize the risk of “AI hallucinations” or inaccurate responses often associated with Large Language Models (LLMs).
Instead, the technology ensures that the assistant provides accurate responses by drawing from the most relevant domain, whether generative AI or real-time data.
Lucid achieved its third consecutive quarter of record EV deliveries in Q3 and recently unveiled its first electric SUV, the Gravity. The company is expected to release its Q4 and full-year 2024 delivery figures soon, so stay tuned for updates.
Following its 2023 partnership to supply advanced EV powertrain technology to Aston Martin, Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson revealed last month that the company is in active discussions with “a couple” of other automakers about similar collaborations.
