The Jeep Dune is a unique creation of French designer Emmanuel Klissarov of Klissarov, that combines city convenience with off-road excitement. It is a fully electric off-road city car that embodies an adventurous spirit despite its compact size. Although not manufactured by Jeep, this electric off-roader carries the Jeep name and shares its foundation with another Stellantis brand, Citroen.
The Jeep Dune is based on the Citroen Ami platform, meaning it is a rugged counterpart to the ultra-compact city EV. The Citroen Ami itself inspired an off-road variant, the My Ami Buggy, unveiled last year. Both the Buggy and the Dune feature open-air designs and enhancements that give them a tougher, more adventurous look.
The Dune shares similarities with The My Ami Buggy, which is powered by an eight horsepower motor and a 5.4 kWh battery providing a range of up to 46 miles. While this range may seem modest compared to larger EVs, it is perfectly suited for short city trips and brief outdoor adventures.
The Dune also features perforated printed fabric doors, customizable hand-dipped personalization, an integrated cooler, and even a DJ booth which makes it the ideal party EV.
The Jeep Dune offers an affordable entry into the world of electric off-road vehicles, with a starting price of around $13,600 (£10,495) for the Buggy and under $10,000 (£7,695) for the original Ami. This makes it an appealing option for those seeking an economical yet adventurous EV.
Emmanuel Klissarov, who works with GM, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Citroen etc. believes the Jeep Dune would be a valuable addition to Jeep’s European lineup, complementing models like the Avenger, Compass, Wrangler, Renegade, and Grand Cherokee. Meanwhile, Jeep is also expanding its electric offerings in the US, with plans to launch a $25,000 Renegade EV and the Jeep Wagoneer S, aimed at competing with Tesla’s Model Y.
The Jeep Dune is a testament to the innovative potential within the electric vehicle market, blending the practicality of a city car with the ruggedness of an off-roader. As Jeep and Citroen continue to explore shared platforms under the Stellantis umbrella, the Dune represents an exciting glimpse into the future of urban and outdoor mobility.
