After five years, Kia is marking a grant return in CES event with its versatile lineup of purpose-built electric vehicles concept. Build on a customizable Platform Beyond vehicle(PBV) that will provide electric vehicles as per consumer demands and needs. Further the highlight of the event is Kia concept PV5, an all-new modular vehicle.
“We are targeting the under-electrified light commercial vehicle market, identifying an opportunity to innovate in a sector burdened by inefficient post-production retrofitting processes,” said Kia CEO Song Ho-sung during the media conference.

Kia’s parent company Hyundai Motor Group has a vision of wholesome revolutionizing the mobility industry. In this line the Kia’s PV5 concept can play a significant role. This PV5 can perform various roles, like as a delivery van, taxi or even a personal recreational vehicle. This PBV EV also comes with HMG’s software-to-everything technology. Easy Swap technology provided by Kia allows the vehicle’s chassis to customize space to support different ”life modules” for varied uses.
Kia also unfolds its roadmap and its purpose-built vehicle strategy, which will expand in three phases. First phase focuses on vehicles like the PV5, optimized for major domains such as ride-hailing, delivery and utilities. They come with enhanced connectivity, allowing them to operate efficiently.
The second phase expands the lineup with models like the PV7 and PV1. They are debuting with AT-driven mobility platforms. To provide users with a real time experience with updates. At the end Kia will furnish its PBVs features with future mobility ecosystems. Functioning as customizable platforms within smart city infrastructures.
Kia president and CEO Ho Sung Song said, “Kia’s PBV business represents our vision of going beyond the traditional concept of automobiles by fulfilling the unmet needs of diverse customers and communities through optimized vehicles and services catering to specific market and business circumstances.” he further added “ By 2030, the global market for light commercial vehicles is expected to hit 3.5 million units, with 1.5 million being electric, and Kia targets 300,000 of these.”
