It is exiting to here that Kia has launched its EV9 GT an upgraded high-performance version of its flagship electric SUV in South Korea. The coming electric car got a new sporty design with over 500 horsepower at a price tag of just $60,000.
During launching event of EV9 in 2023, brand has promised that a range-topping GT model of its first three-raw electric SUV would arrive with “enormous power” and several other high-performance upgrades.
On Monday automaker has launched its new model in South Korea, the EV has front and rear electric motors wit a combined output of up to 509 horsepower (374 kW) and 740 Nm max torque. Best is that the added power enables it to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. For battery and power it features with Kia’s fourth-gen 99.8 kWh battery pack that boosted up to 253 miles (408 km) driving range.
Kia EV GT9 Specs and Tech
The high-performance GT version is brand’s first SUV equipped with an electronic suspension, designed to deliver a stable and luxurious driving experience. It also features an electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD), which actively manages power distribution to the wheels for enhanced control and stability. To emphasize its sporty and exclusive flagship design, brand has also added active air flaps on the front bumper, GT-specific 21″ alloy wheels, neon brake calipers, and a blacked-out roof rack.
Automakers has also upgraded the interior of the EV with several new features and a dedicated infotainment system. Also the new trim has second-row “relaxation seats” to make those long trips a breeze. Even it features third-row power reclining seats that can fold up for more space.
There is a dedicated infotainment system that has an exclusive cluster theme that is only available on the GT model. Other interior upgrades are a premium Meridian sound system, digital side and center mirrors, and augmented reality navigation.
Kia also added Alcantara sports seats into the EV with suede seat back in the front row and mood lamps on the back for a more premium feel. Another coolest feature is e-ASD (electric vehicle-Active Sound Design) that is linked to the virtual gear sift system (like Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 N).This function emulated the sounds and feel of shifting gears.
The new sporty three-spoke steering wheel features a dedicated GT Mode button, allowing drivers to engage high-performance driving at any time.
Kia has launched the EV9 GT in Korea at 88.49 million won ($61,500) alongside a new lower-priced “Standard” trim starting at 64.12 million won ($44,500). With subsidies, Kia anticipates the base model could be available for around 61 million won ($42,300).
Following its domestic debut, the EV will roll out in North America, Europe, and other global markets later this year. Unlike other EV9 variants, the GT trim does not qualify for government subsidies. In the US, the top-spec EV9 GT-Line is currently priced at $73,900, so the GT model is expected to be slightly higher, around $80,000.
