It is a historical moment for the electric vehicles history when the Volvo FH Electric class 8 truck won the International Truck of the year. Volvo FH Electric won the award for its excellence performance, seamless acceleration, quietness and vibration-free behavior, said the jury.
There are all new commercial trucks of the past 12 months contesting, from which Volvo FH Electric was chosen by the 24 commercial vehicle journalists from trucking publications throughout Europe. The truck parts in the contest are also the big real one ICE trucks. The key criteria for evolution includes technological innovation, comfort, safety, drivability, energy efficiency, environmental footprint and Total Cost of Ownership.
The chairman of the International Truck of the year Gianenrico Griffini said during the event that “With the introduction of the FH Electric, Volvo Trucks has delivered a state-of-the-art battery electric vehicle range, suitable for a wide array of transport operations. It’s proof that the energy transition is gaining strength even in today’s challenging business environment.”. He is also a huge Volvo fan personally.
“I am so very proud that our Volvo FH Electric has won this highly respected award,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, as he accepted the prestigious award during the prize ceremony at the Solutreans Transport Exhibition in Lyon, France.
The Volvo FH Electric, operates at a total of 44 tones. Further the production of the Volvo FH electric started in 2022, at Volvo’s factory in Gothenburg, Sweden and production in the factory in Ghent, Belgium began in 2023.
He also commented, “For the first time in history the transport industry has chosen an electric vehicle as Truck of the Year. The Volvo FH Electric represents a new era in trucking and winning this award clearly shows that the shift to zero emission transport is happening here and now,”
