Hyundai IONIQ 9 Flagship model Unveils in Korea—Next Stop, the US

Good news for the Hyundai fans! Hyundai has just launched its first flagship EV – Hyundai IONIQ9 in domestic country (South Korea). It Hyundai electric car is the largest electric SUV with “best-in-class.” The EV features more driving range than any other EV in its lineup and also ready to come US very soon.

The coming electric SUV is available in six or seven–seat configurations and the each as three trim options. The seven-seater “Exclusive” model starts at 67.15 million won, or around $46,000. Prices range upward to 79.41 million won ($54,500) for the premium “Calligraphy” six-seater. It can be brought in AWD or RWD powertrain setups. 

Hyundai expects that with incentives the actual purchase price of the base IONIQ9 (Exclusive trim) to e in the low to mid 60 million won range that is around $41,000 to $45,000. The size of the electric SUV is slightly larger than its sibling like the Kia EV9 with size 5,060 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,790 mm tall wth a wheelbase of 3,1330 mm.

To make it more exclusive the automakers provides buyers four different seating setups. The six-seater is available with premium relaxation seats, swivel seats, or a dynamic body care seat, while the Seven-seater features a 6:4 folding seat with latest tech  including a panoramic curved infotainment setup with dual 12.3” driver display and navigation screens.

Hyundai IONIQ 9 is Based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the Hyundai IONIQ 9 is powered by a 110.3 kWh battery and boast up to 532 km (330 miles) driving range in Korea. It also has a 400/800V dual charging system and can charge form 110% to 80% in just 24 minutes using a 350 kW charger.

A Hyundai Motor official said during the launch event that we plan to provide a new level of electrification experience through the Hyundai IONIQ 9, Hyundai Motor Company’s first electrified flagship SUV model. 

Automaker also said it would launch the IONIQ 9 in the US following the domestic launch. It will built at the new EV plant in Georgia alongside the updated 2025 IONIQ5.

Similar to the updated IONIQ 5, the 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 9 will come equipped with a native NACS port, allowing direct charging at Tesla Superchargers.

According to the website, the Hyundai IONIQ 9 is set to launch in Spring 2025. While official pricing has yet to be announced, the flagship electric SUV is expected to start at around $60,000, positioning it slightly above the EV9, which starts at approximately $55,000.
