“More Freedom, more adventure” Hyundai, a renowned automaker, said recently during the unveiling event of it’s special edition Kona Mauna Loa electric SUV. It is a new electric SUV of Hyundai with an exclusive new look. It is a special version of Kona Electric, only sold in Japan as a limited edition.
It is said the new Hyundai Kona EV Mauna Loa is “a more powerful companion” that comes with special features and accessories. It is able to handle everything from everyday life to the outdoors while being environmentally friendly.
The Mona Loa edition has the same length and width (4,355 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, 1,590 mm tall) as the Kona EV but slightly taller with the roof rack. Also the new electric SUV comes with some exterior changes like a wild & Tough Black finish on the bumpers, fender flares and side skirts, which gives it more than a tougher look.
There is also a black alloy wheel wrapped in Toyo Open Country A/T tires, perfect for off-road conditions. Hyundai has also added mudguards and black accents throughout the exterior, along with a roof crossbar, which is made for carrying outdoor gear like camping and hiking equipment.
It comes with a 64.8 kWh battery pack that is able to offer range up to 388 miles (625 km) as per WLTP estimated range. It is said that there are only 30 units of this limited edition model that starts at around $32,500 (4,950,000 yen). Placed between the N-Line (5,060,000 yen) and Lounge (4,895,000 yen) in Hyundai Japan’s lineup.
According to Brad Arnold, Hyundai Design North America’s senior design manager of exteriors, the rugged new XRT trim is built “to offer more protection, connection, and functionality.”
