BYD has officially revealed the first images of it’s new rugged electric SUV, the Bao 3. From the first looks of the released images revealed that it can be seen as the dubbed of “interstellar tank”. The Bao’s 3 aims to outshine even the Jeep’s toughest models.
The production version of the Fang Cheng Bao is based on the “Star Wars” themed Super 3 concept shown in April. It is part of BYD’s fifth sun-brand, Fang Cheng Bao which was launched in June last year. BYD said the new brand will offer a series of unique and professional-grade NEVs, ranging from off-roaders to sports cars. Recently BYD has revealed three new models:-the flagship Bao 8 SUV, the Super 9 sports car, and the rugged Super 3 (Bao 3) SUV.
As the China’s MITT released the specs of Bao 3 this week, the coming Boa 3 will be a 4,605 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height that makes it one of the rival of Jeep Wrangler (4,867 mm long, 1,853 mm wide and 1,853 mm height).
Offering ample space for passengers, the SUV provides a comfortable five-seating. Also Bao 3 is featured AWD powertrain with a 110 kW front and 200 kW rear electric motor, powered by BYD’s FinDreams batteries.
As per CarNewsChina, the Bao 3 is expected to launch later this year with starting prices around $30,300 (220,000 yuan). It will be positioned under the Bao 5 PHEV, which starts around $40,000 (289,800 yuan) in China.
The rugged design of the Bao 3 includes elements like robust wheel arches and dynamic curves that gives it a formidable presence on the road. Although the concept featured a drone landing pad on the roof, it’s yet to be confirmed for the production model.
The brand is also working on a larger EV- the Bao. It is the flagship SUV in the lineup that will compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser and is expected to be priced around $69,000 (500,000yuan).
