Don Swadley and his team have pulled off something remarkable by putting a Tesla Model S Plaid powertrain, including its ~100 kWh battery pack and three electric motors, into a lightweight Cobra kit car.
The result is a monstrous electric vehicle with 1,060 horsepower, making it incredibly fast and efficient. Weighing just 3,300 lbs—around 1,450 lbs lighter than a standard Model S Plaid—it’s a power-to-weight ratio that makes this car an absolute beast on the road.
Despite the challenges of fitting the entire powertrain, including making the chassis longer to accommodate everything, it works impressively well, even earning rave reviews from Revolt Systems after testing. Swadley proudly claims this is the first EV conversion with a Plaid powertrain, though he’s still in the process of fine-tuning the build.
With a vehicle this powerful and fast, it’s hard to imagine a more thrilling EV experience. What do you think of this Tesla-powered Cobra? Let us know in the comments!
