BYD Seal 06GT has been seen before it’s official market debut. The news spread out when a leaked piece of information from China’s MIIT shows both single and dual-motor BYD seal 06GT models are in the works.
Featuring the highest-speed production motor (23,000 rmp) and a 12-in-1 smart e-drive system. BYD also claims the new platform features the “world’s first full scenario intelligent pulse self-heating technology.” That as per BYD cut the charging time by 40% even in the extreme cold.
It is 4,630 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,490 mm tall, an all new electric hatch that will be positioned between the Dolphin and Seal in BYD’s Ocean lineup. The single-motor model will use 160-kW (215 hp), whereas the dual-motor version features a more powerful 200 kW (268 hp) rear motor with an added 110 kW (148 hp) front motor. There are choices for buyers to choose between 59.52 or 72.96 kWh battery pack.
As per CarNewsChina, BYD is likely to develop the electric hot hatch with plans to export, especially Europe. However the pre-disclosed EU tariffs on Chinese EV imports increases the additional 17.4% duty. Also, BYD’s two European factories can overcome the impact of potential tariffs in the EU.
BYD said that the BYD SEAL 06GT is expected to launch with starting prices between $20,700 to $27,600 range. The sales of the EV are expected to kick off in the next few months and will expect exports in 2025.
