Hyundai is set to introduce its latest affordable electric vehicle, the Casper Electric, next week. It will be Known as the Inster EV in Europe. With this new model  Hyundai aims to meet the growing demand for cost-effective electric vehicles. Hyundai has released a teaser video offering a closer look at the upcoming model, ahead of its official debut.

Hyundai was first teased in Korea last week, the Casper Electric is being hailed as the “new standard for popularizing electric vehicles.” This model is based on the gas-powered Casper, which is already popular in Korea. Hyundai’s new EV version adopts Hyundai’s latest design theme, including the signature DRL headlights and pixelated turn signals, which gives it a futuristic feel reminiscent of Hyundai’s IONIQ models.

For Europe Hyundai has teased the Casper Electric as the Inster EV for the first time last week. The Casper Electric boasts an impressive driving range of up to 315 km (196 miles) in Korea. For the European market, where it will be known as the Inster EV, the range is even more extensive, reaching up to 355 km (221 miles) according to the WLTP cycle. Hyundai has positioned the Inster to “set new standards” in range, technology, and safety, making it a formidable contender in the affordable EV segment.

However, the brand has not revealed the official prices yet, but the Casper Electric is expected to start at under $27,000 (25,000 euros) in Europe. This is a competitive price point considering the features and range it offers .Also in Korea, the gas-powered Casper starts at around $15,000, indicating that the electric version will offer significant value for money.

Hyundai Europw CEO Michael Cole confirmed that the Inster EV will roll out in Europe, followed by another IONIQ model that will be revealed by the company later this year. This strategic move comes under Hyundai’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and making EVs accessible to a broader audience.

The Casper Electric will make its official debut at the Busan International Mobility Show on June 27. Ahead of this event, Hyundai has provided a teaser video that reveals much of the vehicle’s body and design features. The glimpse from the video states that  the Casper Electric retains the compact and stylish look of its gas-powered counterpart, updated for the electric era.

The teaser video also highlights several key design features of the Casper Electric, including updated headlights, taillights, and pixelated turn signals. These elements are consistent with Hyundai’s new design language, which emphasizes modernity and sophistication.
