Finally XPeng Motors introduced it’s new MONA line AI-centric BEVs in China market against Tesla. Today the brand announced the first MONA model the M03 is the first model offered in China with the starting price of RMB 119,800 ($16,815). The M03 will be near the half the price of a Tesla Model 3, means it will get the huge orders.
As soon the brand launched the MONA M03 at even lower starting price, the BEV snagged over 10,000 orders in its first 52 minutes according to XPeng
However the brand already debuted it’s initial model officially in early July with promising price tag of below RMB 200,000 ($27,500). But the shared information by the XPeng Founder, chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng earlier this month revels that the M03 has begun mass production in China before scheduled launch event on August 27.
As per Mona’s Weibo page, the M03 arrives in three separate trims, priced at RMB 111,800 ($16,815), RMB 129,800 ($18,220), and RMB 155,800 ($21,870) respectively. The three variants – 515, 620 and 580 Max- refer to each M03’s CLTC range (km), and the “Max” signifies the addition of XPeng’s smart driving ADAS capability.
In July when XPeng has firstly introduced the MONA M03, He Xiaopeng said on the event it was designed to “honor the Tesla Model 3.” It is also evident with the offing price so the vehicles that the Chinese automaker is more concerned with challenging the status of the Model 3 in China than anything.
The MONA M03 is a also longer, wider and taller than the Model 3 which a slightly shorter wheelbase. Further brand also said that each model features a single motor that can accelerate 0-100 kWh (0-62 mph) in 7.8 seconds in the 515 and 7.4 seconds in the 620 and 580 Max variants.
Also the most affordable trim features a 51.8 kWh battery pack, while the other two come with 62.2 kWh packs. Xiaopeng said during launching evet the Mona M03 consumers 11.5 kWh of electricity per 100 kilometers.
Xpeng says the delivery f the MONA M03 will being in September, but you can per-orders you EV now. For Max variant the delivery is expected to start after China’s Spring Festival holiday in late January to early February 2025.
