After lot’s of buzz and humerus, XPeng has officially shared the details of its AI centric MONA M03. The new announcement comes from the brand’s dedicated Weibo page for MONA. Being the strongest contendere of it’s class the M03 features smart driving capabilities and will launch at a starting price below RMB 200,000 ($27,500)
XPeng first disclosed its aims to build a new sub-brand focused on artificial intelligence last March. In this row during the Beijing Auto show, XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng shared that the brand is named MONa. an acronym for “Made of New AI.”
Since then there has been lots of buzz in the market and we have also learned that the brand’s first model will be an all-electric sedan called the M03. One of the key thing to note here is that XPeng has changed its verbiage during announcement, as a new lineup of XPeng BEVs, insists on its own sub-brand.
During the debut of it’s futuristic EV XPeng’s CEO has not said anything about any performance specs M03. He states the new AI model is “meant to give respect to Tesla’s Model 3.” On the Weibo page of the XPeng has shared that the M03 has drag coefficient of 0.194 Cd, hailing it as the world’s most aerodynamic all-electric hatchback sedan.
With its new electric model XPeng is aiming to raise its market in which MONA M03 will help the brand to bolster BEV sales in the second half of 2024. Also, information from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reveals that the MONA M03 will be available in two single-motor variants that offer a peak motor power of 140-kW and 160-kW respectively.
CEO Xiaopeng also confirmed that the first XPeng MONA mode will start at a price below RMB 200,000 ($27,500). It might be higher in the same class of BEVs, but the M03 is still a great affordable new model that offers quite impressive driving technology with other smart features.
