Volkswagen is one of the leading automakers and has now hinted that the company is now going to double its ID. Buzz production with the debut of a new variant. In an interview with German auto outlet Automobilwoche, executive vice president and marketing at VW Commercial Vehicles Krause said the New ID.Buzz variants, like the three-row model, VW expects production to ramp up quickly.
VW has officially debuted its ID.Buzz previously in March 2022, since then the EV is getting updated with new variants from time to time. Last June Volkswagen unveiled the three-row ID.Buzz especially for the US market. It will feature a bigger battery (91 kWh) for added power to handle the extra load.
Also news from early in this year that the ID.Buzz will be available in three trims in the U.S. :- Pro S, Pro S Plus, and a launch -only first edition. Krause said that the brand has high hopes for the new three-row electric van.
As the data revealed, Volkswagen has only built 35,000 models last year, VW expected ID.Buzz production will reach over 100,000 in the medium term. Which is more than the double 35,000 model of last year’s production.
Krause believes 100,000 models is a “realistic” target as the ID.Buzz reaches new markets like the US. VW is also planning an even cheaper entry-level ID.Buzz to meet the demand.
Krause also explained, “In the second half of the year, we want to build twice as many ID.Buaa as in the same period last year.” Also the launching of the new variants including the three-row and GTX models raises high hopes. However the company is also phasing out the T6..1 which will open up production capacity.
Although there are not many details specific to the new ID.Buzz including the pricing, the entry-level ID.Buzz will include a smaller 62 kWh battery. The electric van is expected to start at over $50,000 in the U.S and $69,00 (€64,600), including VAT. However the delivery of the first ID.Buzz model will start in the next few months in the US. Meanwhile you can buy the ID.Buzz with a long wheelbase soon in Europe.
