A Tesla executive has confirmed that the company will introduce updates to its Model S and Model X vehicle programs later this year.
Tesla Plans Model S & Model X Updates in 2024
Tesla last refreshed its flagship Model S and Model X in 2021, but the update failed to significantly boost sales. Initially, Tesla aimed for 100,000 combined units annually, but by last year, deliveries had dropped to nearly half that number.
The decline is partly due to increased competition from Lucid, Rivian, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, as well as internal cannibalization—brand’s more affordable Model 3 and Model Y have received more attention and upgrades in recent years. Now, brand is officially confirmed that updates are coming. Lars Moravy, Tesla’s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, made the announcement during a recent appearance on the Ride the Lightning podcast.
