A Tesla store in Toulouse, France, was the target of a suspected arson attack, resulting in the destruction of a dozen Tesla vehicles amid ongoing global protests against the company and Elon Musk.
The incident took place at company’s retail and service center in Plaisance-du-Touch, near Toulouse, during the early hours of the morning. Firefighters arrived around 4 a.m. and managed to contain the blaze to the vehicles. Eight cars were completely destroyed, while four others suffered severe damage, with total losses estimated at over 700,000 euros.
According to local reports, authorities suspect arson, as a hole was found in the facility’s fence and threats had been made in recent weeks. As a result, the Tesla location remained closed for the day.
Brand has been facing global protests, particularly from anti-fascist groups who oppose Musk’s political involvement. While some protests have been peaceful, extremist groups in France have reportedly called for acts of arson against company stores.
