Firefly is NIO’s ultra-affordable sub-brand specialized in smaller, more affordable EVs announced by brand years ago. However it was officially launched during NIO Day 2024.
During the event brand also revealed the images of its first modes that is designed to compete again compact brands like MINI and smart. Although we all already get the glimpse of the EV exterior but yet to get its interior.
But not any more as a spy images emerging out of China offers a snack peek in the Firefly’s new flagship model.

CnEVPost has several time pointed out that there are auto blogs on Weibo that has been circulation the spy images of what appears to be a Firefly EV, as seen above. Although the large red button in the center console suggests that this is still a prototype, the image clearly features the Firefly logo on the steering wheel and a dashboard similar to that of a NIO EV.
The EV features a horizontal center screen and smaller dash display fit NIO’s design language, offering further evidence that Firefly’s flagship model is being tested in the wild in China.
During the Firefly brand launch, NIO said this flagship model fo Firefly brand will begin reaching customers in China something around April 2025, followed by Europe shortly after.

Founder of NIO William Li also stated previously that Firefly will rely on local partner outlets for European sales, starting sometime in the first half of 2025.
In China, the Firefly EV will be available for RMB 148,800 ($20,390), matching the discounted price of the electric Mini Cooper. We’ll keep you updated on the Firefly and share any new images as its expected April launch approaches.
