At the event of EICMA 2024 – the Milan Motorcycle show, Royal Enfield has announced its two new electric motorcycles, the Flying Flea C6 and S6. “Flying Flea” is not just the name of the new bike but it is the entire eclectic sub-brand launched by Royal Enfield. That is designed to encompass a range of light to middleweight urban electric motorcycles.
The automakers offered the first two models of electric motorcycle – the classically-styled Flying Flea C6 and scrambler-styled Flying Flea S6. These motorcycles showcased what you can expect from the electric Royal Enfield.
The new bikes are carrying the Royal Enfield’s design heritage, borrowing several design cues and mixing them with the modern technology afforded by electric motorcycle design work freed from the traditional bounds of conventional frames and engines. Design also mimics several now vestigial features, including an electric motor case that looks like a crankcase and bodywork that mimics a fuel tank.
The company has not unveiled anything about the specifics including the specs details. But the look of the motorcycles reveals that the battery itself is rather small, physically meaning it is not suitable for a longer range with a single charge. There is a narrow battery case suitable for a single row of cylindrical battery cells, limiting motorcycle total capacity. However there can be two rows of cells, but it’d be a tight squeeze.
For Flying Flea C6 the company has repeatedly referred to it as “city+”, meaning it is specifically designed for urban commuting, with occasional excursions further out and on to faster roads.
The electric motorcycle brand has not said anything about how fast ? and how far? The Flying Flea C6 and S6 will cost. But it is expected that the Flying Flea price will be between US $6,500 to $8,000. Also leaders of Royal Enfield say that the company is targeting multiple battery capacities and power levels to create various options for riders, meaning the entry-level model could be quite attractively priced, even if it must give up some range and top end to get there.
