Renault Trucks, while not often in the global spotlight, is making waves in electric trucking with its new 2025 E-Tech T electric semi-truck. This heavy-duty vehicle is set to deliver an impressive range of over 600 km (approximately 375 miles) per charge, showcasing Renault’s commitment to leading the charge in sustainable transportation solutions.
Renault Trucks reports its electric fleet has already clocked nearly 19 million miles, cutting over 29,000 tonnes (around 32,000 tons) of CO₂ emissions in the past five years. With the new 2025 E-Tech T offering a boosted range of up to 600 km per charge (an increase from 400 km in the 2024 model), these milestones are set to grow even more rapidly.
Renault Trucks emphasizes that while the new E-Tech T’s extended range makes it well-suited for long-haul transport, ultra-long range isn’t the ultimate focus. Instead, the company encourages fleet customers to customize battery sizes based on their specific needs, optimizing for load capacity, routes, and charging strategies to ensure maximum efficiency.
Emmanuel Duperray said, “We’re not looking to enter a race for autonomy on a single charge, Oversize batteries penalize the payload, raise total operating costs and increase the environmental footprint. In essence, an electric truck is more expensive than a combustion vehicle. We need to rethink low-carbon logistics, in other words, reconsider transport patterns to optimize the use of transport vehicles and therefore reduce the cost per kilometer.”
Duperray believes that with a 600 km range and the development of public charging infrastructure through Renault’s joint venture, Milence, the company will achieve “operational parity” with diesel trucks by 2026. This progress will help electric trucks become as viable and efficient as their diesel counterparts in the near future.
