Ian Callum is ready to taste the market of electric cars. Renowned as an iconic British car designer’s own design, they debuted their first electric car – The Callum Skye. The upcoming Callum Skye is a fierce-looking off-road EV that builds from taking inspiration from the design of Aston Martin Vanquish and Jaguar I-Pace. It can be seen by it’s sleek , rugged exterior design.
The upcoming Callum car is designed for those seeking “extraordinary on and off-road adventures,” crafted with “the utmost capability, refinement, and beauty.”
Specs, Battery and Performance
The Callum Skye is 4,047 mm long and 1,900 mm wide, which makes it smaller than other off-road EVs such as Rivian R1T. Despite being shorter in size the Callum boasts a sports car performance, with a 0 to 60 mph sprint in under 4 seconds like the Rivian. Also it is one of the lightest off-road EVs on the market with just 1,150 kg (about 2,500lbs).
The EV’s drivetrain is built by a 42-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is expected to get up to 170 miles driving range. That might not get the Callum Skye in the line of “long range” labels. But Callum says that an available fast-charging system charges the EV in less than 10 minutes.
Callum is good for four passengers in a 2+2 layout. Inside of the Callum Skye, there is a central touchscreen and a tablet- like touchscreen for the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The dashboard is specially designed to make it functional oriented with easy touchscreen dials. The 2+2 layout includes a pair of sports seats for the front passengers and a rear bench seat designed for storage or carrying smaller passengers when required.
Currently you can order your Carllum Skye sports car on the brand portal. According to Autocar, the production version is priced from £80,000 ($101,700) to £110,000 ($140,000). The company plans to release several variants of the EV in 2024. Some will put an even emphasis on off-road capability, while others will be rad-focused. For other details like specs, power and performance we have to wait for the launch and official update.
