Battery Swapping is one of the widely known methods of EV charging. As charging an EV with the traditional charging infrastructure takes lots of minutes and money. But with the Nio EL7 it is no longer. After getting good results in the Chine now Nio has exported its battery swapping stations, mainly in Europe.
The idea behind this Nio EL7 is, instead of waiting an hour on the charging station to, you can swap it with a fully charged one at Nio Power Swap station in only a few minutes. If it sounds impractical, there is a video provided by the Nio on its site that demonstrates the whole process.
Nio says that every 1.4 seconds, a car departs from one of its more than 2,000 Power Swap Stations with its battery fully charged. The Third Generation Power Swap Station, which entered service in April 2023, is capable of 408 swaps per day.
As per the current data the company has around 2,000 Nio Power Battery Swap Station within China with the quick increment in upcoming months, and plans for rapid growth of that in Europe.
Customer friendly infrastructure of the station makes it more attractive. As they can enable battery swapping service by Nio’s flexible Battery-as-a- Service (BaaS), which uncouples cost, maintenance and upgradability of batteries.
This new development in the field of Battery swapping will revolutionize the mobility sector. As the large portion of Ev cost increases due to the expensive battery package. But the option of battery swap not only gets the overall price of the Ev but it’s also not expensive to maintain them.
