Nissan is looking for an affordable electric car to boost its EV sales. The brand has just come up with its new Micra EV as its newest low-cost electric car. It will be another EV that will come in the blanket of affordable EVs. Teasing the fans from past several years, Nissan has finally announced. Also it is viewed as the result of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
To grab the EV market brands are in the race in that Nissan has come up with it’s “Arc” business plan. It aims for “Significant next-generation EV cost reduction” through it’s partnerships and technology developments. Also the automakers are also preparing to launch five new electric cars soon.
Nissan has not revealed the details of the new EV but in the market there is lot’s of buzz. It is expected that the EV will ride on the same AmpR Small Platform that was used to power the Renault 5. As per that the Nissan Micra EV is expected to boost up to 249 miles range from a 52 kWh battery like the Renault. Or there could be other smaller battery options offered by the brand at a lower price.
Auto Express said that the Micra EV will be the first of Nissan’s new electric car lineup. The new low-cost EVs’ design is expected to be close to that of Ariya, as sources have also indicated with the new LEAF.
To achieve its aims of affordable EV Nissan reduced the costs of its new electric models by 30% by developing “EV in families, integrating powertrains, utilizing next-gen manufacturing, group sourcing, and battery innovations.
Apart from that Nissan is also planning to introduce new EV batteries, such as all solid-state to get the advantage of the market competition. Brand has said that it will start construction on its new all-solid-state EV battery pilot line this week.
