Here is another significant partnership in the industry of EV. This time Japanese automakers Nissan and Honda tied hands to keep pace with Tesla and others leading the SDV movements.
Deeping its partnership to the next level Nissan and Honda announces a new agreement to design and develop next-gen software-defined EVS. Now both automakers work together to promote EV adoption with a focus on software-defined vehicles(SDVs).
Like other automakers they are also working into software development with aims to improve autonomous driving technology, connectivity, and artificial intelligence. It also includes the joint development of new batteries and electrically driven axles by sharing motors and inverters.
Nissan and Honda view the new tech as a “source of competitiveness.” and plans to design and develop tech to power next-gen SDV platforms. Both automakers plan to conduct the basic research over the next year.
Also based on the result both automakers decide to consider the possibility of mass production development.
Mitsubhishi also announced plans to join the new alliance in a separate press release. Also Takao Kato, Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Motors said:-
“Nissan and Honda’s discussions on a possible partnership have progressed, and we have decided to participate in this framework. Collaboration with partners is essential in today’s automotive industry, which is undergoing rapid changes due to technological innovations such as electrification and intelligence. We believe that we can discover new possibilities in a variety of fields through collaboration among the three companies.”
