Have a glimpse of the first look of the upcoming performance EV just before the official debut of the EV. The all-electric performance SUV is now officially being tested on public roads.
Mercedes-AMG is an iconic high-performance brand of the auto industry that is now separately trying its hand into the electric vehicle world. This will be the first electric SUV presented by the automakers to the world.
Mercedes-AMG’s First Super Electric SUV Spotted
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its electric SUV, nicknamed “Born in Affalterbach,” describing it as a “groundbreaking off-roader.” Building on its legacy of pioneering the segment over 25 years ago with the ML 55 AMG, the brand promises that this new EV will deliver a “truly captivating high-performance off-road experience,” built on the AMG.EA platform.
Testing of the coming SUV has begun in northern Ireland, where its sporty four-door electric coupe was spotted testing earlier this year. This will be the second SUV of the brand that is dedicated to the AMG.EA platform.
As per the performance brand its new architecture is a “technological trailblazer” with axial-flux tech from Mercedes-owned Yasa. Also Autocar said the AMG.EA will feature 800V and support twin and tri-motor systems. With each Yasa motor packing up to 480 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, it will provide over 1,000 hp combined output.
Automaker also claims that its e-motors have four times more torque and double the power of nearly all current tech on the market. The performance electric SUV is expected to feature an impressive interior that includes the new AMG.OS software.
While pricing hasn’t been disclosed yet, it’s clear the new model won’t come cheap. For reference, the 2025 AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC starts at $130,800 in the US, and this upcoming model is expected to exceed that. The production version is scheduled to launch in Europe in 2027, with a US debut likely to follow soon after, though official details remain unconfirmed.
