After weeks of teasing, Tesla has finally officially introduced its Model Y L, an expanded family friendly electric car. It is a long-wheelbase, six-seat version of the existing Model Y — on its online configurator in China. It is revealed that the starting price in China is set at RMB 339,000, which is equivalent to around $47,180–$47,200 USD. Making it a little more expensive than the Model Y Long Range AWD variant around $3,500–$3,600 in China. The new variant of Model Y features dual-motor AWD with a combined output of 340 kW (456 hp), enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in about 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.
Range and Efficiency
On China’s CLTC testing cycle, the electric car offers up to 751 km (467 miles) of range which is an impressive figure. Despite its larger size, this matches the range of the regular Model Y Long Range thanks to an upgraded 82 kWh NMC battery supplied by LG Energy Solution
Efficiency figures sit around 12.8 kWh/100 km under CLTC.

Dimensions & Storage
The company released the first specifications and dimensions related to the EV model last month. According to that the length of it is approximately 4,976 mm which is 180 mm longer than standard Model Y. And the height is about 1,668 mm, 24–44 mm taller and a 3,040 mm wheelbase that is also 150 mm longer. Also the curbs weigh in around 2,088 kg, up from the standard AWD version.
Tesla also highlights up to 2,539 liters of storage, making it impressively versatile—especially when rear rows fold flat. Tesla has also enhanced the Aerodynamics of Mode YL, with a drag coefficient of 0.216, aided by revised roofline and spoiler details.

Interior Comfort & Utility
Inside, the Model Y L features a new six-seat layout that includes two front seats, two captain’s seats in the second row, and a two-seat third row. Also the both second and third rows seats get fold that ensure enough cargo flexibility. Apart from that the second-row amenities includes electric armrests, electric adjustment, heating, and air vents to ensure smooth experience, making it ideal for families or utility use.
