Are you ready for another BYD’s electric car? BYD’s is ready with its impressive eclectic hatchback that will arrive in China later this month. It is the BYD’s new Seal GT electric hot hatch that will launch on October 18, 2024 as the brand is on the row of expansion.
The first look of the new BYD’s electric hot hatch has been reveled at the Beijing Auto Show in April. The brand has dubbed the Ocean-M concept and claimed it was the industry’s first RWD performance electric hatchback. It also unveil that the design of the new EV is influence form it’s other Ocean series models like the Dolphin and Seal but with an almost Volkswagen Golf-like silhouette.
The body of frame of BYD’s Seal 06 GT is 4,630 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,490 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. It is little bit longer than Volkswagen’s new ID.3 GTX Performance that is 4,265 mm long, 1,809 mm wide and 1,563 mm tall with a wheel base of 2,770 mm.
The EV hot hatch is built on brand new e-Platform 3.0 Evo that features higher performance and faster charging speed. In August, BYD has opened pre-orders, officially calling it the Seal 06 GT and said prices would range form as low as $21,300 (150,000 yuan) to high as of $28,400 (200,000 yuan).
The BYD Seal 06 GT is available in three powertrains. The base model features a 214 hp (160kW) rear motor. The middle trim has 221 hp (165 kW), while the dual-motor model offers 415 hp (310 kW) for a 0 to 62 mph accelerations in 4.9 seconds. It also consist a larger 73 kWh battery and able to gets up to 375 miles (605 km) range in China.
Considering about the interior the new BYD’s EV features the latest tech and connectivity software. There is a floating 15.6” infotainment and 10.25” driver display at the center. Further the minimalist design of the EV is another attractive features. It is said that the BYD’s electric hatchback also comes with a 12” head-up display.
It is expected that the BYD launched the EV hot hatch in China last month, but BYD’s Ocean series manager Zhang Zhuo confirmed that the EV hot hatch will hit the market on October 18 this year.
The eclectic hot hatch of the BYD is the latest edition in the EV segments with the aim of brand new market expansion. BYD has already known for it’s low-cost EVs like the Seagull, price under $10,000 in China. But to compete with the growing market BYD is launching it’s new models across the various segments such as electric supercars, pickup trucks, and luxury vehicles.
