Li Auto has been a growing Chinese automaker brand for a decade. Brand got early success from sales of four models delivered to the market in the last five years. These were the extended – range EVs that still utilize small combustion engines. However in 2023, we all got to know that Li Auto was developing its first full EV.
The first glimpse of the electric vehicle in September 2023, reveals that the BEV has a unique van-like shape. Also at the Guangzhou Auto Show last November, Li Auto finally revealed its EV called the Mega. It is an all-electric MPV – a growing segment of vehicles in China that are designed for families and livery transportation.
This time a full video posted by the Li Auto of the Mega launch event to Weibo page reveals the initial trim offered by the brand. It unveiled that Max – starts at an MSRP of $ 77,782 (RMB 559,800) where Mega Arrives as Li Auto’s first BEV and the most expensive model to date.
Company put a key focus on the aerodynamics in the Mega which delivers a drag coefficient of 0.215. It also features a large 102.7 kWh pack composed of Qilin batteries from CATL, and offers a CLTC estimated range of 710km (441 miles).
Provided advanced cells also enable speedy charge rates – 500km (311 miles) of range from a 12-minute DC charge, according to Li Auto. The Mega EV is propelled by dual motors totaling 400 kW of power and 542 Nm of torque, offering the ability to accelerate from 0-100km/ (0-62 mph) in 5.5 seconds. Other impressive features are reclining captain chairs, fold-flat seats, a rear fold-down movie screen, and even a tiny refrigerator.
Li said it had received over 10,000 pre-orders in the first two hours, initially stating the BEV would launch in China prices below RMB 600,00 ($83,370). The Mega hit the market today following a launch event, and it’s priced a bit below that original number- at least for the initial trim now on sale. Li Auto also has high expectations with the vehicles.
