Kia introduced the EV5 last summer and claimed it “brings a new era of electric mobility to the compact SUV sector.” The smaller electric SUV includes much of the advanced new tech and software in Kia’s flagship EV9 but in a more affordable package.

Kia introduced the EV5 in China last November, with a starting price of just $21,000 (149,800 yuan), significantly undercutting rivals like the Tesla Model Y.
The base EV5, powered by a BYD Blade battery, offers a range of 329 miles (530 km) on the CLTC cycle. The longer-range variant, equipped with an 88.1 kWh battery, extends the range to an impressive 447 miles (720 km) CLTC.
The upgraded 2025 Kia EV5 GT Line has finally been revealed, showcasing a bold blacked-out exterior design with 20″ aluminum alloy wheels for a sleek and sporty look.
Under the hood, the AWD powertrain delivers an impressive 316 hp (233 kW), enabling a 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) sprint in about six seconds. The GT Line offers a solid 360-mile (580 km) CLTC driving range and supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in just 27 minutes.
Inside, Kia has elevated the luxury feel with a leather-wrapped two-tone steering wheel and other blacked-out accents. The cabin also features Kia’s next-gen ccNC infotainment system, complete with dual 12.3″ center and driver display screens.
