Kia’s popular electric crossover SUV is getting a significant upgrade for 2025. The refreshed Kia EV6 boasts more range, a Tesla NACS charging port, striking new design updates, and innovative features like a virtual gear shift system. You can check out how the new feature works in the video below.

Unveiled at the LA Auto Show last month, the 2025 EV6 introduces several major enhancements, just three years after its debut.

The first noticeable change is the redesigned front. Kia’s updated design language, seen on models like the larger EV9 and mass-market EV3 and EV5, gives the EV6 sharper angles and sleeker character lines, creating a sportier and more aggressive look.

Inside, the Kia EV6 is equipped with Kia’s advanced Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system, featuring a curved display with dual 12.3-inch infotainment and driver cluster screens.

The updated model also includes a larger 84 kWh battery option, boosting the range to an estimated 319 miles, compared to 310 miles in the current version.

The performance-focused GT trim has been taken to the next level, now delivering up to 641 hp (with GT Mode) and 568 lb-ft of torque—surpassing the 2024 EV6 GT’s 576 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque. It can still accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 3.4 seconds.

To enhance its high-performance appeal, Kia has added a new Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) system, similar to the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. This feature replicates the sensation of shifting gears with visual and auditory cues. A video from HealerTV demonstrates the system in action, showing exhaust-like sounds and gear-shift simulations as the car revs.

When GT Mode is engaged, the motor, steering, and suspension automatically adjust for peak performance. In the refreshed model, drivers can also customize these settings for a more tailored experience.

Kia launched the updated Kia EV6 GT in Korea last month, starting at just over $50,000 (72.2 million won) with incentives.

In the US, Kia plans to produce the new EV6 at its Georgia facility, alongside the three-row EV9. The lineup will include Light, Light Long Range, Wind, GT-Line, and GT trims. Pricing details will be announced closer to its US launch, expected in the first half of 2025.
