Ford is ready to launch its low-cost EVs after showing dealers several new renderings. Also it is not hidden that Ford’s will launch a new platform for low-cost EVS as it is made clear also by the CEO Jim Farley who said it will be the future of the brand.

Ford’s new all-electric Capri EV

Early in February Farely revealed that Ford had a “skunkworks” team out in Cali developing the platform. The platform will be used to make affordable EVs as the direct challenge to Tesla and Chinese EV leaders like BYD. Also the recent images revealed by the brands disclosed that the electric sedans, crossover SUVs, and pickups are the latest models in the lineup.

As per Automotive News, Ford gave dealers a preview of other models based on the platform at an event in Las Vegas. The dealers were shown several images of new EVs, including sedans, crossover SUVs, and pickups.

Also a report from Bloomberg revealed that Ford was planning smaller, more affordable SUV and pickup truck models on the platform. The models are expected to start at around $25,000.

In the line of EV expansion Ford’s has taken the talent from all corner of the industry like Alan Clarke, who known for his work with the Tesla Model Y.  Also from the past several months Ford’s is hiring nearly 20 ex-Tesla employees. 50 Rivina and some form Lucid.

Ferley highlighted that Ford and its rivals need to compete with low-cost Chinese EVs and Tesla or risk dwindling sales. He also adds that 20% to 30% of your revenue is also at risk if the automakers cannot keep up with growing industry dynamics.

Ford also explained that the company has trouble competing with the Japanese and the South Koreans, we have to fix this problem. It’s only done by betting on a pretty quickly smaller EV platform to keep the pace with global EV race.

Currently many automakers are turning to Chinese OEMs to use their platform including leading Volkswagen with XPeng. Ford also said that they have learned lots of from Volkswagen’s MEB platform as it was the platform that was used in Electric Explorer and New Capri EV.

This the significant step of the Fords to match Chinese OEMs and Tesla with its low-cost EVs. Ford also claims the platform will be flexible. Be ready to see Ford’s affordable electric sedans, SUVs and pickups?
