Mercedes-Benz has recently shown its new eclectic model. It will be an entry-level Mercedes CLA, set the bar for EV range, changing speed, and efficiency and advanced new tech. Mercedes is also giving us a closer look of its sporty electric car ahead of its arrival.
CEO Ola Källenius said, “with the CLA, we are ushering in a new era at Mercedes-Benz” after driving the new EV at its immendingen site for the first time.
Mercedes said the new electric CLA “is designed to set new standards in range, efficiency and charging speed.” Also the new model of the automakers will also be the first of a new family of vehicles, kicking off “a new chapter for the entry-level segment at Mercedes-Benz.”
Mercedes CLA EV Features
The new electric car is based on Mercedes’ next-gen MMA platform and integrates its tech from its ultra-efficient Vision EQXX concept and brings it into mass production.
Mercedes said it developed a new electric drive unit in-house to ensure high performance and efficiency. Also Källenius has shown off the “secret” CLA EV during the event, revealing new features and details, including the new headlight design.
One of the standout features of the Mercedes CLA EV is its headlights that are designed to be perfect according to Källenius. He also added that one of the coolest design details is the Mercedes star logo integrated into the headlights. Although it looks pretty, Källenius said the design is also about safety and not blinding others on the street.
It will also feature Mercedes’ latest software and connectivity tech and the first electric model to be equipped with the new MB.OS, or “the brain” behind its next-gen vehicles, as Mercedes calls it.
During the test drive, the new model shows off its sporty design and dynamic driving as it rips around the test track. Källenius also said, “This is not even the AMG version.” There is also a two-speed transmission, perfectly calibrate at every speed that you are driving how the eclectic motor works to maximize efficiency.
Mercedes leader said the Mercedes CLA EV will have “incredibly fast” charging. With a new high-powered charging system, “charging almost becomes like fueling.”
It is expected that Mercedes will officially unveil the new entry-level Mercedes CLA EV next year, with deliveries expected in 2026. At the expected price around $55,000. As the new model hits the road it will rival Tesla’s Model 3 and BMW i4. The best is also that the new model will also be available in a hybrid version.
