First Look at the Kia PV5 Electric Van

Initially revealed as a concept at CES last January, the PV5 is built on Kia’s innovative Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) architecture, which will underpin the brand’s future EV van lineup. Alongside the PV5, Kia also introduced larger PV7 and smaller PV1 concepts, emphasizing flexibility and modularity for commercial and lifestyle use.

After teasing the production model last week, Kia has now fully revealed the PV5’s exterior design. The van will be available in multiple configurations, including Passenger and Cargo variants, catering to both personal and business needs.

In terms of design, Kia describes the PV5 as a modern, futuristic electric van that breaks away from traditional light commercial vehicle styling. It features large panoramic windows on the Passenger model for better visibility, while the Cargo model has a boxier profile to maximize interior space. Black geometric wheel arch claddings and rugged lower body panels give the PV5 an adventurous look. Kia has also included twin side-opening tailgate doors to enhance convenience for deliveries or outdoor activities.

Upcoming Launch & Key Details

Kia will reveal more details about the PV5, including powertrain specs, seating configurations, and interior features, during its EV Day on February 24 in Tarragona, Spain. Official specifications will be announced on February 27.

At the event, Kia will also debut the EV4 electric sedan and hatchback models, as well as the smaller, more affordable EV2 concept.

Ahead of its official launch, the PV5 was spotted testing in the US this week, with images revealing a Volkswagen ID.Buzz-like design. The PV5 Cargo Compact concept measures 177.2 inches in length, 74.8 inches in width, and 74.8 inches in height. The Passenger and regular Cargo variants will be larger, making them more competitive with other EV vans. For comparison, the US-spec ID.Buzz (LWB) is 195.4 inches long, 78.1 inches wide, and 76.2 inches tall, while Ford’s E-Transit measures 237.6 inches long, 81.3 inches wide, and 83.9 inches tall.

With its sleek, modern design and modular capabilities, the Kia PV5 could be a game-changer in the electric van segment. What do you think? Does the PV5 look better than the ID.Buzz or E-Transit? Let us know in the comments!
