Nikola Corporation is one of the pioneer American manufacturers of heavy-duty commercial battery-electric vehicles. This time the brand has announced it had delivered the first production hydrogen fuel cell truck in North America during the fourth quarter.
Nikola president and CEO Steve Girsky said, “Today we’re sharing what we’ve accomplished and how we are providing fully integrated zero-emissions mobility solutions to fleets right now.”
Nikola is the first company that produced class 8 hydrogen fuel cell trucks in North America and proved that the company can design, build and deliver hydrogen fuel cell trucks. The company has produced 42 hydrogen trucks among them it delivered 35 to dealers. The remaining seven have been kept by the company for testing and fleet demos.

Nikola recalled all its tre BEV trucks last summer, and said it is on track to deliver the first reworked electric trucks equipped with new battery packs by the end of Q1. Company is also expecting to return all trucks by the end of Q2 or early Q3.
Since October, the Company has submitted an additional 33 HVIP voucher requests for the BEV truck in California. According to Nikola, the BEV “2.0” will include several upgrades, including increased payload capacity.
