BMW’s new bigger all-electric model is like the brand’s other powerful gas-powered sports cars. A recently released video offers a sneak peek at the BMW M Beast in action. As we all already have insight that the team has been testing a secret EV prototype known as “Beast.” since 2018.
BMW’s high-performance division is moving forward with its first M-badged electric car. Earlier this month, we got a preview of the upcoming EV under camouflage during Episode 1 of their new series, “BMW M Electrified.”

The series offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the development of BMW M’s first electric model, with the latest episode showcasing early prototypes.
BMW M CEO Frank van Meel said, “ We had no idea where this technology would lead us.” In 2018, a small team developed a “super raw vehicle” internally called “The Beast.”
Michael Sailer, from BMW M’s functional development driving dynamics team, describes The Beast EV as “super powerful” and lacking the “calmness” typical of other M vehicles, making it challenging to control. BMW M is focusing on perfecting this aspect.
Meel also said the massive change opens even more opportunities as the industry rapidly shifts to electric. He explained that the final M5 “missed a lot of traction.”
As BMW M gears up for the next generation, its chief stated, “We need to find a way to better control the power.
BMW M’s boss reminisced, “It feels a bit like January 2015 when I said: Trust me, I’m an engineer, and M xDrive is going to be great.” Now, he’s confident again, saying, “Trust me, what we’re developing for the future will be just as impressive.”
Built on BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse EV platform, the first electric M car is anticipated to deliver 1,340 hp—or one megawatt—powered by four independent motors. This would outclass the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which offers up to 1,092 hp.
