BMW is preparing to launch its first Neue Klasse model later this year, promising 30% faster charging and at least 30% more range. The new iX3 will debut by the end of 2025, leading an “unprecedented ramp-up” of over 40 new and updated models by 2027.

Despite a 4% decline in global deliveries last year, BMW is betting on its next-generation EVs to drive future growth. CEO Oliver Zipse described the model as the company’s “biggest future-focused project.”

Let’s Deep into BMW Neue Klasse Tech and Specs

All upcoming models will be built on a new “Digital Nervous System” and “Heart of Joy” ECU, designed to enhance range, charging speeds, efficiency, and overall driving dynamics. The system features a zonal architecture powered by four high-performance computers, optimizing everything from infotainment to self-driving capabilities.

BMW is set to introduce its first Neue Klasse model, the iX3, later this year, marking a significant advancement in its electric vehicle lineup. It model platform is exclusively designed for electric vehicles, integrating batteries directly into the vehicle’s structure. This design supports battery packs ranging from 75 to 150 kilowatt-hours and utilizes an 800-volt system, enabling fast charging capabilities of up to 270 kilowatts. Such specifications allow the Neue Klasse to add approximately 30 miles of range per minute of charging.

The iX3, built on this platform, is expected to deliver at least 30% more range and 30% faster charging compared to previous models. Additionally, BMW aims to reduce battery pack costs by 40% to 50%, making their electric vehicles more accessible.

Beyond the iX3, BMW plans to release over 40 new and updated models by 2027, all featuring a new “Digital Nervous System” powered by four high-performance computers, or “superbrains.” This system enhances various functions, including infotainment and autonomous driving capabilities, offering over 20 times more in-car computing power than current BMW vehicles.

With these innovations, BMW expects electric vehicles to account for over 50% of its global sales by 2030, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
