Alpine, A significant automaker has unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV), the A290, marking the brand’s foray into the electric mobility market. The following EV is Alpine’s small size sporty addition of brand lineup that combines advanced technology with a nod to it’s motorsports heritage.

Société des Automobiles Alpine SAS, popularly known as Alpine, was founded in the 1950s. It specializes in compact and agile motorsport vehicles.  Revived by Renault in the 2010s, Alpine has continued to produce performance-oriented cars, most notably the A110. And the introduction of the A290 is a significant milestone, as it represents the brand’s commitment to electric mobility.

Alpine’s CEO has previously promised two new EV that look like “Porsche” with intent to bring it to the U.S. market.

Alpine has shared the details of the new A290 EV. The A290 is built on a skateboard platform that ensures optimized weight distribution and a lower center of gravity. This, combined with the extra rigidity from its battery, provides balanced handling and stability.

The BEV features a single motor that keeps its overall weight at an agile 1,476 kg (3,260 lbs). It is also equipped with a 52 kWh battery pack that promises to deliver a WLTP estimated range of 380 km (236 miles).  The A290 supports fast charging, capable of replenishing form 10-80% in just 30 minutes and adding 150 km (92 miles) in about fifteen minutes.  Also this hot hatch accelerates from 0 to 60 mp in just 6.4 seconds with up to 220 bhp and 300 NM of torque.

Impressive features of the A290 includes bidirectional charging that allows for vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities. Heat pumps enhance the efficiency and performance of the EV in various temperatures. A red button on the steering wheel provides a 10-seconds power boost.

One of the standout features of the A290 EV is Alpine Telemetrics, which offers drivers access to the three main categories to improve their experience behind the wheel. It includes:

  1. Live Data :- It allows drivers to monitor various aspects like lateral Gs, ABS/ESC activation, battery status, consumption, car data (motor and battery temperature, tire pressure ect.) and battery status.
  2. Coaching:- It provides first hand advice in the cockpit from the development engineers to improve driving skills.
  3. Challenges:- To make it more unique you will find game-like challenges in it to enhance driving proficiency and provide an engaging experience.

The innovations are not  stopped here, Alpine said it is just the beginning of Alpine’s electric journey. The company plans to follow up with a GT C-Crossover nd a new electric version of the

A110, all built in France’s Electricity with components sourced locally. The EV is combination of innovative features, performance, and heritage positions it as a strong  competitor in the growing electric vehicle segment.
