After unveiling the eclectic CLA Concept in September last year, Mercedes-Benz is now aiming to launch its coming Electric CLA next year, as its first more affordable EV series. The new EV will be Mercedes’s rival to Tesla’s best-selling Model Y.
The new EV is built on Mercedes’ next-gen MMA platform, which is based on its Vision EQXX concept. It features an 800V system and boosts up to 248 miles (400 km) of range in just 15 minutes with fast charging capabilities.
According to Auto Forecast Solutions, an electric crossover variant will launch in the first half of 2026, with the expected production begin in Germany in October 2025. But in the U.S. it will arrive next year. As per Automotive News.
As per reports the new MMA platform will power four upcoming entry-level EVs, which includes a coupe, a wagon, and two crossovers. It also replaced the EQB as a brand looking to catch the attention of younger buyers.
On this note Sam Fiorani, AutoForecast Solutions vice president said , “The EQB will not be replaced when the production ends in late 2025. He further added that the brand’s aim to provide more choices in sporty and lower-priced crossovers gives younger buyers more of a reason to shift to the brand,” Fiorani explained. Meanwhile, “The more family-friendly utilities will keep them engaged for years to follow.
With it’s new MMA platform Mercedes is hoping to compete with Tesla and other leading Chinese EV makers including BYD, which are currently leading the electric vehicles market. On the other hand other automakers like Ford is also looking to grab the potential with it’s new coming EV platform, which is dedicated for affordable models to match the pace with Tesla.
