BYD, a Chinese automaker is going to expand it’s EV lineup with its latest addition to BYD’s latest EV, the new Yuan Up model. The coming EV features an impressive range of nearly 250 miles (401 km) estimated CLTC range, which also comes with slightly higher trim with affordable pricing.
Launched in March this year, the Yuan Up is the brand’s first A0-Class SUV based on its e-Platform 3.0, which was revealed by the brand last September. This platform offers more range, safety and performance to the vehicles.
BYD’s Yuan Up will available in the three trim options starting with the price tag of $13,300, as a base model “301km Leader” gets up to 187 miles of CLTC range.The middle “401km Leader” trim offers up to 250 miles (401 km), at $15,100, where as the upper trim “401km Superior” model with cost of $16,500.
To make BYD more competitive and performance oriented the new Yuan Up model this week – the “Vitality Edition”. This model features up to 250 miles (401 km) CLTC range at the pricing of $13,700 (RMB 99,800). It is designed to keep in mind the buyer’s need for more range at an affordable price.
It is features same size at the current Yuan UP models such as 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall, which make it a perfect competition for the Tesla Model Y ()4,751 mm long, 1,921 mm long and 1,624 mm tall).
The new variant is powered by the same electric motor as the entry-level model that feature a peak power of 70 kW with peak torque of 180 Nm. Also it uses the same 45.12-kWh battery pack as the other higher-trim of the brand. The new model cost $400 (RMB 3,000) more but it also offers approx 100 km more range.
The interior of the new Yuan Up also features an 8.8-inches instrument panel, four-spoke steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a crystal gear shift knob. Along with expanding in electric cars, BYD has also expanded with its pickup trucks, luxury models, and electric supercars.
