Tesla has begun rolling out a significant new software update version 2024.26. This new software is packed with new music options, enhanced parental controls, and more. Tesla’s frequent over-the-air updates often bring backend improvements, but this latest release introduces notable new features for users.
Tesla has always ready to pushes its boundary with the updates. However most of the new updates don’t include significant release notes with the updates being in the backend, but every few months, Tesla releases bigger updates feature additional features for customers.
Music Options Expanded
The update adds two major music apps to Tesla’s already robust lineup, which includes Spotify, Apple Music, Tune In, and Tidal.
- YouTube Music: Tesla owners can now access over 100 million songs through YouTube Music Premium, with access to personal libraries, playlists, and subscriptions. This feature requires Tesla’s $10-a-month Premium Connectivity or an active WiFi connection.
- Amazon Music: Prime members gain shuffle access to over 100 million songs, All-Access playlists, and a vast catalog of ad-free podcasts. Upgrading to Amazon Music Unlimited provides full on-demand access, also requiring Premium Connectivity or WiFi.
Enhanced Parental Controls
Tesla has upgraded its parental controls, allowing parents to restrict vehicle speed, limit acceleration to “Chill” mode, and activate safety features such as Speed Limit Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Warning. A Night Curfew feature sends notifications if the vehicle is driven past a set time. These controls can be managed via the Tesla mobile app or the vehicle itself, secured with a PIN.
Improved Navigation
The navigation system now includes sub-destination options, enabling users to select specific locations, like terminals at an airport, for more accurate routing.
Weather and Air Quality Display
Tesla’s status bar will now display local weather conditions and air quality index (AQI) alongside the temperature. Tapping the temperature on the touchscreen provides detailed weather forecasts, including daily highs and lows and the chance of rain. This feature also requires Premium Connectivity.
Scheduled Charging and Preconditioning
The update introduces new scheduling options for charging and preconditioning. Users can set one-off schedules, repeat specific times or days, and control when charging starts and stops via a redesigned menu or the Tesla mobile app.
Tesla is gradually pushing this 2024.26 software update to its fleet, with all eligible vehicles expected to receive it within a few weeks.
