The long Range Rear wheel drive new variant of Model Y has been introduced by Tesla. The upcoming variant will cost less than the previously sold cheapest Model Y in the US. The starting base price of the new Long Range RWD Model Y is $44,990 and it qualifies for the US tax credit along with the brand $2k discount.
This is the result of Tesla’s model development. The brand has replaced the standard range RWD Mode Y with a longer range model for $2k more discount. This discount with the state tax credits has brought the Model Y to its lowest price ever.
Performance, Specs and Range
As said by the brand the new model is identically similar to the old model but there are some new developments in it. The new model will have a larger battery to provide good range. The estimated range for the new LR RWD is 320 miles instead of the 260-mies range of the SR RWD.
Tesla said that it also added the new Quicksilver paint option for $2,000 but it’s only available on long Range RWD and Performance models. This makes it look cool and modern. Also it comes first time in the US as it has been out in Europe since 2022.
Along that Tesla is also planning to offer software unlocks which will allow owners who bought the 260-Miles SR RWD to add an additional 40-60 miles of range, according to the chosen battery cells by owners for an additional $1,500-$2,000.
Apart from that Tesla also says that owners who bought the 260-mile battery actually got a car that comes with additional hidden battery capacity. This is not the first time the company has also done that previously in the name of manufacturing simplicity. It produced a single battery pack, but locked some to lower amounts of range through software.
