As BMW is aiming to expand its 5 series in near future. In this line BMW previewed its new BMW i5 M60 Touring last May. This comes after the long period of six years after the 5 series sedan. This new electric car is slightly larger, that also includes its latest software and tech like OS 8.5 or more.
The i5 is positioned in the middle of the 3 series and larger 7 series in BMW’s lineup. The 5 series has played and will continue to play a crucial role in the brand’s success, as it is the second best-selling vehicle of BMW.
BMW i5 two trim – the i5 eDrive 50 and i5 M60 will be available in the US in October. The eDrive 50 features 355 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Also a 81.2 kWH battery is provided that boasts up to 295 miles of range. On the other hand the high-performance i5 M60 is powered by dual electric motors that provide combined 593 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque.
However BMW has not confirmed that the latest teaser is about the M60 version, but it did confirm an M Model was on the way. As the teaser hasn’t revealed much but how much you can see is, the model includes redesigned taillights, a sleek new bumper, and an added small rear spoiler.
BMW’s M division leader, Franciscus van Meel, said the high-performance i5 M60 Touring will arrive this spring.
IT is expected that it will include the similar specs of the i5 M60 with a dual-motor powertrain ith 593 hp and 586 lb-ft of torque. Also the interior is fitted with the latest tech and software. Also a dual 12.3’ driver display and infotainment is also expected.
As for M60 xDrive trim features a flashier bodykit courtesy of the BMW M division. Other distinct features are sportier bumpers, aerodynamic mirror caps, larger-diameter wheels, and an array of M badges. But the i5 Touring lagging behind in dramatic appearance like the M5 Touring, which occupies the top spot in the range and boasts an even more potent plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain.
The Bavarian automaker has confirmed that the i5 Touring will be available in most of Europe, Japan, Taiwan, UK and Norway but the US buyer has to wait as BMW i5 Touring will not be offered in North America.
