As the Automakers are trying to make the electric vehicle experience new and unique for consumers. In this line Ford is looking to upgrade its upcoming electric truck for better experience.
The recent news discovered by CarBuzzz that the brand recently filed a patent for a “Swiveling Sill for a Vehicle ” with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office. That includes details like an electric truck in which the cab’s back panels can open like an SUV. Opening the panels creates ample space between the cab and truck bed. Further when they are closed then you have a secure spot to store items.
That shows that the brand is now upgrading its upcoming vehicle with camping,glamping whatever you prefer. To conceptualise that Ford has developed a hinge system. This design uses to make loading and storing items like wood or plasterboard easier, but Ford has a better idea to make it more useful.
Ford says the electric pickup tent can be used for camping or glamping. In some cases, the vehicle’s seats can fold flat, providing a sleeping surface. The seats could also include heating or cooling devices.
Patent details show that there is a camping tent that is assembled around the truck. It is specifically designed with pockets that fit around the vehicle’s side mirrors to keep it strapped down. Further the tent can also be extended with various pockets and straps.
The Electric Vehicle further has map lights inside that can be used as reading lights when it’s dark. In some cases, to detect intruders or animals a sensor system also could be included in the vehicle.
As many automakers are introducing the new tech and adventure like campers or tents for electric pickups. Considering Rivian has a three-person tent available in its gear shop. Also Tesla launched the Cybertruck Basecamp, a fully collapsable truck bed tent attachment.
The Ford is late to this new creative adventure. However, A swivelling back panel would instantly upgrade your camping experience of any electric pickup. The automaker also filed a patent with the USPTO for a moveable work surface platform for the F-150 Lightning frunk. Further a mounted entertainment screen, wireless charging and a built-in shade are the other recent patents that upgrades the EV pickup’s frunk.
